Family Night Out

My dear husband took us to the drive in tonight to see Sex and the City!!! Shhh... don't tell anyone, but he admitted he liked it. We agreed that some points were a touch too dramatic, but overall it was funny and the ending was good too. I won't give away any details other than, it got all four of our thumbs up... ok, maybe all six cause Connor went too. More importantly, we found out that the drive in is a great way to see movies without having to find a babysitter.

Oil Sludge is Good!

Ok, so oil sludge really isn't good, but if you can show proof of regular oil changes it may just work out to your advantage. (BTW Cheryl, oil sludge is when you never get oil changes and your oil gets old and hard and the cylinders can't pick it up anymore. It's a way to starve your engine and not give it any oil. I totally can't believe you didn't know that already. Ok, so maybe I didn't either) Anyhow, I would like to remind everyone to have their oil changed and keep records.

I faxed over my most recent oil changes, the last one being in March and Audi is warrantying my engine. Yeah for us! *side note, Connor just tried to eat her first piece of dog food... I got a worse face when I tried to feed her veggies for dinner. Ok, back to our car. It will be fixed within 2 week and we will get a new, FREE, engine. And I think we have learned our lesson and will try to sell the car the moment we get it back. But I do ask, maybe we can keep it cause it'll be practically brand new. Ok, Ok, I'll sell it!

Now onto my bad month... did i mention we don't have to pay thousands to fix the car? That was really the biggest contribution to killing my month. Also we are a little sad because it's warming up and we still have a yucky backyard, but I got an email yesterday from someone who plans to put the grass and sprinklers in early June... good news again. Ummm, I'm really not sure what else has gone wrong this month other than just being tired and worn out, which is the usual.

But, again, I got good news yesterday. I think I found a part time sitter for our little angel/devil. Lisa, a fellow Bunco-ian, has offered her services and watch Connor on Mondays and Wednesdays. Yeah! So the month started out fine, then went down hill and is now on the rise again. Thanks for the comments and emails of concern, it made me feel loved.

Now for a question and advice from those couple of people who read this. Do the parents out there prefeer a private sitter or commercial day care? Andres and I were discussing the pros and cons. He would rather send her to a 'kindercare' so she can interact with others and not be alone, while I wanted to slowly transition her with a private sitter. I just feel that a big classroom with lots of 'big people' bossing her around would be too overwhelming. Instead she can get used to one person a couple other kids until she is more independant. I want her to be able to walk and understand a bit more before throwing her into the big, crazy world. Andres has agreed to give it a shot, and I am glad. I think we are doing a good thing and soon enough we will pass her on 5 days a week (the boss will be happy about that one!).

A game of Catch Up

Grandpa came to town a few weeks ago and Connor had lots of fun playing. Her Uncle Manuel had fun and was a good sport while Connor pulled his hair and slapped his head around a bit. Andres' dad lives in Mexico and it was so great to see them again! Last Saturday Connor and I went to our dear friend Marisa's shower for baby Derek. I need to apologize for all the Yankee items that made their way into our home as I prepared (this house is a red sox house!), Derek and Marisa are New York fans so I had to step on over to the other side for the afternoon.

We then spent Sunday at Hootieville with the family for Mother's Day. It was a nice day of family, food and Nanny taking naps. This is a typical picture of our 90 something year old great grandmother... God bless her.And God bless Ian's hair. This is my ginormous brother (who is now as tall or taller than Mel) and he is crazy. He is in the 9th grade and just got glasses... dork! And my last post from last weekend is our Connor. She is all over the place, crawling and walking while holding onto anything near her. She has actually stood by herself but it doesn't last very long. And now she can wave. Of course, her hands are turned the wrong way but it makes the attempt even cuter this way. Below is her double fisted wave.
I had lots of fun catching out pumpkin laughing and having fun... she is so stinkin cute!

Another Step

Today brought good news for the Casstro family... Andres got a job at Oak Quarry Golf Course. He starts on Saturday at 6 am (yeah, I agree that IS early!) and we are super excited. Now he has an excuse to golf more often and at a beautiful, high priced course. Congrats dad, we're proud of you!

It has been Confirmed

I just watched American Idol and my last post holds true to today. I cried with David (the little buddy) on his trip back home. I even teared up a little with the other 2, but David is so genuine. He is a good guy and I shed a little tear of appreciation for his fellow Utahians. (Yes, I made that word up).

My Sensitivity

I am sitting here watching Medium, with Patricia Arquette and it's a really good show. However... this episode talks about a woman who purposly drown her baby boy and I started to cry. I had to fast forward and just couldn't watch. Motherhood brings on a lot more than sleepless nights, snotty shirts, and poopy diapers. It puts your life in a completely different perspective. I am still learning about being a mom and how it has/is changing me, and I imagine that will never end. What I do know is I love it!

Connor is amazing and every day I find myself just watching her. She started clapping her hands this weekend and today I actually saw her try to wave. Her grandpa swore she waved at him on Sunday and today she made me a believer. She is laying in Andres' arms, alseep right now and she is beautiful. Life is amazing.

Help Wanted

I am looking for day care leads. Connor is cute, sweet, fun, but... a handful! I am ready to hand her over for a few days a week and need some help finding someone to watch our little pumpkin. If anyone has any recommendations for a day care, either an actual day care center or a stay-at-home mom, please comment.

Mel, I would be glad to speak to Adam about moving over to JULIA way and then Connor and Julia can have lots of play dates! :)

-or- Grandma Shirley, if you are reading this, wanna start over ?:) (j/k)
