Almost finished

So Heidi asked to see pictures of Connor's finished room and since I'm close enough, I'll go ahead and post them now. I still have a few finishing touches to add (flower night lights, pictures to hang and dots to paint), but this will give you a pretty good idea.
Here's a little back story to this room. When we moved in it was painted this BRIGHT pink and I love it. However, Connor's room before was a soft pink and brown so I am trying to blend the 2 pinks. I decided to cut the dots out of paper and attach them to the trim as a trial run. Well, I liked it and am going to paint them on permanently (when I am motivated enough) but I am worried I am taking it too far... what do you think?

Cutie Patootie

Does she not look GINORMOUS? (how do you spell that anyway?) Sunday we took Connor for a walk around the neighborhood in her Jeep stoller (thanks Erin and Yosh!) and it was great. I just wanted to share this picture because she looks so chunky and cute!

Celebrating 100... uneventfully

So I just signed into my blogger account and noticed my last post was the big 1-0-0!!! I think i'll bake a cake for myself... mmmm.

Ok, now back to business. I have been working on this new house of ours and decorating every space, it's a lot of work! I am just about done with the down stairs and I think I killed our palm plant thing in our dining room already, but otherwise it is looking good. Connor's room is my current project and it's looking good so far...stay tuned for some pics, I'm almost done. After that were gonna work on getting her to sleep in there too.

Being Erin Brokovich

So we love our new home and the neighborhood we live in, but is it too good to be true? I got an email from the head of our neighborhood watch this weekend about the next town meeting. First on the agenda, 'living in the white dust'! Check out this article in the LA Times and let me know what you think.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-hex16apr16,0,152814.story

Apparantly the TXI Riverside cement factory above us has been informed by the Air Quality Management District that they found "high levels of hexavalent chromium, a toxic carcinogen, in dust blowing from the outdoor "clinker piles" of the century-old plant in the Rubidoux area. And to add insult to injury, no officials had notified them." This is the same stuff that Erin Brokovich made her fame with. What a reality check.

Afternoon snacks

Here are a few of Connor's favorite things right now...
mmm.... strawberries

Want one mom?

Gold Fishes! She shoves about 3 or so in her mouth at a time till she chokes and then gets mad when I have to fish them out!

Of course, after I picked her up I found half the bowl under her butt.

Roooaaaarrrrr

Meet Connor's new friend! He is going to help mommy get more done around the house. How you ask? He's just a toy you say? Well, toys are Connor's favorite and as long as he keeps Connor entertained, mommy gets lots done. Not only does this toy serve as a little car (that she can't move yet), he lights up, sings AND.....

He helps her walk like a big girl! Thanks Mr Lion, we like you already!

Parenting 101

How do you do it and When? Connor is now over 8 months old and I have yet to be able to 'put her down for a nap'. So far her naps are taken in the afternoon around noon after I latch her on and she falls asleep, and around 4 after I... latch her on and she falls asleep. Either way, I am her pacifier and her teddy bear. Now, this may sound cute and sweet... but when do we move to the next step? I just laid her down in her playpen for her nap and she woke up right away and is crying/screaming/squeeling on her knees begging me to pick her up. BUT she hasn't taken her nap! Is she still too young to 'go down for a nap' on her own? Am I pushing it too soon? Am I a bad mom for letting her cry right now?
I caved and picked her up...

Let's Celebrate with Paper

Happy Anniversary to us!
One year ago today, at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Andres and I said our vows. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments with you!

And here's our fun centerpieces... something a little different!

We look forward to each passing year as our memories continue and we grow together as individuals and as a family.

We make a good team, Andres and I.

I Thawt I Thaw A Puddy Cat...

Or maybe just a Lexus!
So this is one of our customer's cars at the shop yesterday. I was outside walking Connor to sleep and walked past the car, noticing something big sticking out of the grill I got a little closer and this is what I found! What on Earth!! Lou (the bird bowler) thought it was too cool to take out so the poor little buddy is stuck... talk about an uncomfortable ride!

Crossing Another Mile Marker

Today is officially the day... that Connor really crawled. And I mean REALLY crawled. No scooting, no rolling, no sitting up and down to get someplace... she really, right leg, left arm, left leg, right arm moved! It was slow and it was long... but it was CRAWLING!

HAHAHA

April Fools...
(So maybe Mel's the only one who fell for it, but it was fun!)
